The Unlock-Grants course tag line — Knowledge + Know-How is the Key — is not accidental. It’s a tag line that helps one visualize what the course sets out to do, and how it will do it. How YOU will do it.
For anyone new to grants, they need to not only pick up facts and figures, concepts and theories, but they need to be able to put into practice what they are learning, in order to make the information stick.
Then, through mentoring, or some serious networking, they can check in with others about what they have experienced in trying out what they’ve learned in real-life situations.
I very deliberately came up with the tag line because I didn’t want to just impart knowledge and send it out into the ether. I felt that just learning information and only having it sit in one’s brain didn’t satisfy the true understanding and comprehension of grants I was after. I needed the information to have a chance to travel from the brain through to the fingertips, as it were.
Here’s an off-the-wall analogy.
For instance, you can learn all about volleyball in a book: the play, the strategies, the team rotation, how to serve, how to set up the ball to allow a teammate to spike it.
But it’s not until you are out on a court and actually in play do you truly understand volleyball. The cerebral information has made its way through to your body, your stance, your positioning, your eyes, ears, feet, hands, and fingers.
Then, and only then, when someone says “volleyball,” will you comprehend it on a completely different level.
So I reinforce what is made available in the Unlock-Grants course’s recorded content in three very important ways:
- Regular Skills Assessments
In order to capture and check up on what is being put across in the one-way format, I include quizzes, required to advance to the next module. These simple, multiple-choice quizzes help ensure the learner (and me) that the information is getting across clearly and being comprehended. Then I go one step further, one giant step further. - Weekly Live Group Calls. For A YEAR.
Not one month or two or six. A Full Year. I reinforce the learning — and, in fact, provide mentoring — through these weekly calls. You get to play volleyball with me for one full year. That’s fifty additional hours of expertise-sharing from me. You as a learner can follow along with the sections and the modules, go out into real-world situations and put what you’ve learned into practice, and then come back and submit questions you’ve developed for discussion on the calls. - Topic Library
I will develop a library of all the weekly call’s content for access by learners for their entire year with me. In this way, you get to take advantage of any previous calls’ content, or calls you have missed.
That’s a lot of access, a true depth of learning. It’s how Knowledge + Know-How become the Keys to Unlock-Grants!
